Couponing 101

If you're new to couponing or just haven't picked up on all of the lingo yet, here's a guide for all of the abbreviations I use.

These are inserts that you can find in the Sunday papers.

RP= Red Plum
SS= Smart Source
P&G= Procter & Gamble
GM= General Mills

*When I list a store deal and refer to a coupon from a Sunday insert, the information on where to find the coupon is in parentheses. For example, (RP 1/1/10) would indicate that a coupon came from a Red Plum insert that was distributed in the 1/1/10 Sunday newspaper.*

These refer to different stores rebates programs or shopping incentives.

RR= Register Rewards for Walgreens
SCR= Single Check Rebates for Rite Aid
ECB= Extra Care Bucks for CVS

Some other abbreviations you'll see are,

BOGO= Buy 1, get 1 free
B2GO= Buy 2, get 1 free
Blinkies= The coupon boxes that you see at the store by specific products encouraging you buy a particular item off the shelf.
Cat= Catalina, the coupons that print at check-out for a future purchase.
MFG= Manufacturer coupon
MIR= Mail in rebate
OYNO= On your next order
Peelie= A coupon that is on the package that you peel off.
PSA= Prices starting at
UPC= The barcode from your item packaging, Universal Product Code
WYB= When you buy
